Nature adventure: Shore fishing and budding explorers

Who needs a kids’ club when you have the world’s largest playground at low tide? The Baie des Veys is a renowned spot for the shore fishing .

  • The activity: Armed with a bucket and a small rake (and respecting the size limits!), go hunting for cockles and clams. It’s fun, it’s free, and children love digging in the sand.
  • The discovery: Take them to the Beauguillot Nature Reserve very close. With just a simple pair of binoculars, a Normandy safari is on offer: observing seals basking on sandbanks or storks in their nests is a memory they are not about to forget.

    History from a child’s perspective

    People often think that the D-Day beaches are too “serious” for children. Think again! The surrounding museums have done a fantastic job of making history accessible.

    • Utah Beach Landing Museum : Located just minutes from the campsite, it offers trails adapted for children. Seeing a real, full-size B-26 Marauder bomber always impresses younger visitors.
    • Airborne Museum (Sainte-Mère-Église) : With its interactive tablets (HistoPad), the visit becomes an immersive treasure hunt. Children travel back in time and learn about history in a fun way.

    And after culture? Time to relax! Utah Beach is a huge stretch of fine sand, perfect for sandcastle competitions and kite flying.
