GR 223 One of the most diverse hiking trails
By hiking, we improve our cardio fitness by using and strengthening the stabilizing muscles of the legs and trunk to improve balance that we wouldn’t otherwise use.
Walking uphill is excellent for developing the quadriceps, gluteal muscles and calves, which we don’t get when we walk on flat ground, while walking downhill works the ankles, hips and core.
